Comparing ************s XP to ************s Vista





Price - Cost:

Price is a very complicated issue, For example, If you have ************s XP, you have already paid for it, So when you buy Vista you are not really saving, You are paying #380 and ********ling what is now worth $280 (opportunity cost), Also, for the extra features in Vista, You may already have software that ads that functionality, and if the extra software is not free, you have already invested in XP, are you ready to invest again when your XP is still worth its money ?

If you buy a new computer though, you may want to know that getting it with ************s Vista is the wiser thing to do knowing how OEM versions of the operating system are cheaper

Also, Vista BOXED is licensed for 1 machine, and one time transfer to another machine, Meaning You buy vista and install it, Then you can only Move it to a different machine ONCE or sell it ONCE (the buyer can not sell it)

Compatibility:

Although at the minute if software runs on an OS ******t it will run ******t on ************s XP , but we don't know how long it will take for the tables to turn, For at the minute most of the software that runs on XP also runs on VISTA (to an extent, Vista is backward compatible) , And even those that run on vista will run on XP when Avalon is launched.

As a rule of thumb, Most non system software do work in Vista (Sometimes through a compatibility mode), When it comes to system software, there is a good chance they do not work. Device drivers of ************s XP may or may not work as they should, or may not work at all.

, Looks and interface: ************s XP was a looker in its days, What really changed is the Graphics technology, now ************s Vista is being rendered in the Direct3D engine of the operating system (See ************s AERO) , The bottom line is that Both are not so flexible when it comes to themability, But Vista has that new Glass Look thing, And although more efficient in this area, it's minimum requirements are nearly Double that of XP.

For some time now, Others have been making business filling the gap that microsoft created when they released XP, all those anti-spyware programs and third party spyware removal tools, Now ************s released ************s Defender, But will it fully replace other anti-malware software.

Hard disk space:

************s vista is many times bigger, and grows much faster, saving redundant versions of files to repair itself, And being full of files you will probably never use, Big Video's to teach you how to adjust your TV, Wallpaper collection with not so optimized files (deliberately not compressed much), etc..
